The Bulabulin Ngarnam borehole was the pilot project initiative for the initiative.
The first well was sunk in Bulabulin Ngarnam, Jere Local Government Area, Borno State, Nigeria.
Our trusted volunteers visited the area to confirm the need for clean water and arranged for a survey.
They held meetings with the Village Head and other community leaders to ensure the location would be accessible to all members of the community.
Work started on the May 5, 2016 and was completed three weeks later at a cost of about $700 or £500.
An area that was not too far from Maiduguri the state capital was chosen largely for security reasons.
Lessons learnt from this project informed subsequent successfully executed programmes in the Sahel region.
